How it works on your site
The Brokk 520D is a 5,500 kg tracked, diesel-powered demolition robot that the operator drives by remote control, for breaking, stripping and sorting work where no mains power is available: structural demolition with a hydraulic breaker or concrete crusher, soft-strip with grapples and buckets, and debris sorting with grapples or a clamshell bucket. Force One in the UK connects its 520D to an RSP suction excavator through an extension attachment, sending the robot into confined spaces out of reach of its larger suction excavator trucks. Brokk launched the 520D at Intermat 2018 as the successor to the Brokk 400D and still lists it in 2026; 2 deployments are confirmed.
Material Sorting & Segregation
A bucket, clamshell bucket or multi-purpose grapple lets the operator load, sort and separate demolition debris by material from the remote. Brokk's recommended attachment weight for the 520D is 700 kg.
Soft-Strip / Selective Salvage
Brokk lists grapples and buckets among the 520D's attachments, including a sorting and demolition grapple it markets for soft demolition and stripping structures inside buildings. The 520D is compatible with all Brokk 400 and Brokk 500 attachments.
Structural Demolition
The operator runs a hydraulic breaker or a concrete crusher from the SmartRemote, by radio or cable, while a Kohler (EPA Tier 4 / EU Stage IV) or Kubota (EPA Tier 3 / EU Stage IIIA) diesel engine, both 55 kW (74 hp), powers the machine without a mains connection. Brokk lists concrete crushers among the 520D's attachments and pictures the machine with a CC700 crusher on its 2020 product sheet. PCiRoads fitted Brokk Drum Cutter 250 attachments to its 520Ds to shape sandstone in a tunnel.
