How it works on your site
The Robotic Crack Sealer is a truck-mounted crack-sealing vehicle on a Class 7 or Class 8 chassis: a FANUC robot arm, guided by cameras and lasers, blows out and seals road cracks while a driver drives the truck. It automates crack sealing on paved roads, with RMV's VISTA vision software finding the cracks, a 12-foot air nozzle clearing them and an onboard SealMaster melter feeding sealant to the arm. AsphaltPro reports the truck runs with a driver in the cab and one crew member on the back who monitors the application and refills sealant, against the crew of at least seven workers that Ohio DOT research cites for conventional crack sealing. RMV lists it as a shipping product, which SealMaster markets as CrackPro RMV; the one sale RIC found went to an unnamed Indianapolis company in spring 2023 (local news), and Ohio DOT's two-year, FHWA-funded field test (August 2024 to August 2026) has published no results, after the agency's earlier report said there was not yet enough experience with the equipment to validate its benefits.
