How it works on your site

LUMI is a tracked, battery-electric robot that picks utility-scale PV modules from a staged pallet or directly off a moving skid steer and "throws" them onto single-axis tracker racking. Placement is the whole of its scope: bolting, torquing, torque-marking, final alignment and rubbish removal are done by hand. Every LUMI on site comes with three people: a Luminous safety operator, a catcher who receives and aligns each module by hand, and a skid steer operator feeding modules to the robot. LUMI first deployed in 2025 and remains pre-commercial: all four confirmed deployments are grant-funded, three under Australia's ARENA programme and one under MassCEC in Massachusetts, with no commercial rate published.
