How it works on your site

The Wacker Neuson RTD-SC4 is a diesel, remote-controlled trench roller: the operator drives it and runs its vibrating drums from a handheld radio remote while standing outside the trench. It covers one earthmoving subtask, compaction of backfill soil in trenches, with drums that convert between 23.6 in and 32.3 in operating widths. The fourth-generation Wacker Neuson trench roller launched in North America at the ARA Show in February 2025 and is shipping, with no confirmed deployment or named customer on record.

Compaction

The RTD-SC4 compacts trench backfill with vibrating drums, and Wacker Neuson's EU-market site pitches it for cohesive soils. An internal scraper bar loosens debris that builds up inside the drum so the drum does not seize.
