How it works on your site

Cosmic-1A, which its maker also calls Cosmic-1, is a battery-electric, eight-wheeled autonomous vehicle that tows a trailer of solar modules along a tracker row and lifts each module onto single-axis tracker racking with a six-axis KUKA arm and a vacuum suction gripper. The crew stays on the row and changes job: the robot sets each module onto the tracker racking, and installers fasten, align and quality-check every one, a division of work that Engineering News-Record, the U.S. Department of Energy and the arm supplier all describe. Fastening without a person is stated future work. The machine is in production on utility-scale solar work in California, Texas and the East Coast with one customer, Sunstall Inc., through its SunRobi division; no source names a project, a megawatt figure or a unit count.
