How it works on your site

Gritt is a retrofit kit, about 1,000 lb of robotic arm, vacuum gripper, forks, on-board generator and sensor mast, that bolts onto a contractor's own 10,000 lb class skid steer or tracked carrier. It picks utility-scale PV modules from a manufacturer's crate staged beside the row and sets them onto single-axis tracker torque tubes; the torque-controlled bolting that governs module warranty stays with the crew. Gritt first deployed in 2025 and is pre-commercial: it took the grand prize in the US Department of Energy's American-Made Solar Prize Round 7 in September 2024, and one customer is named on the record, Burns & McDonnell, whose own release says the two companies collaborated to evaluate and have tested the technology at multiple utility-scale solar sites.
