How it works on your site

IronBOT is a gantry robot from Advanced Construction Robotics that rides rails along a bridge deck, lifts rebar bundles of up to 5,000 lb, and carries and places the horizontal deck bars in both directions. A Robot Supervisor positions the machine, enters bar spacing and start direction, and singulates bars from each bundle by hand; tying is outside IronBOT's scope, and on both documented Shelby Erectors jobs a separate ACR robot, TyBOT, did it. On its first bridge deck, at Port St. Lucie in February 2023, IronBOT placed about 90% of the horizontal deck rebar, 130,952 lb, in 24 active hours out of 48 equipment hours, per ACR's project data. IronBOT is pre-commercial: ACR unveiled it at ConExpo in March 2023, and the only announced next job, the Oakvale Bridge in West Virginia, is a plan with Brayman Construction, whose chairman is also ACR's executive chairman.
